Bas has 25 years of experience working across multiple publishing sectors. After many years leading Elsevier’s regional office for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, he was involved in the launch of several companies, including Magknowlia, Konvertus, and now Aldus Press. He has always striven to ensure that publishing provides the best possible service to scholars and has championed the Open Access model from its first theoretical inception.

Dr. Alissa Jones Nelson

Acquisitions Editor, Humanities & Religious Studies

Alissa completed her PhD at the Centre for the Study of Religion and Politics at the University of St. Andrews in 2009. She worked as the Acquisitions Editor in Religious Studies for De Gruyter and then as the Senior Editor and Head of the Publishing Department for the Dialogue of Civilizations Research Institute in Berlin. Since 2016, she has worked as a freelance editor and publishing consultant. She is a native English speaker, fluent in German, with more than 8 years of experience in the publishing industry.

Alissa has acted as midwife to more than 300 publications, from monographs and edited volumes to white papers and special reports. She believes strongly in the importance of Open Science and democratizing the global research landscape.
