Bas has 25 years of experience working across multiple publishing sectors. After many years leading Elsevier’s regional office for Germany, Austria and Switzerland he founded several companies including Magknowlia, Konvertus and now Aldus Press.  He has always strived to ensure publishing provides the best possible service to scholars everywhere and has always publicly championed the open access model from its first theoretical inception.


Gertruda Gilyte

Gertrūda Gilytė has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the Vilnius University as well as Fine Arts degree from the Vilnius Academy of Arts. Her academic interests include soft power, cultural politics, and new media studies.
Gertrūda is working as a freelance translator and researcher since 2016. Currently, she is finishing her Master’s degree at the Berlin University of Arts.

Dr. Alissa Jones Nelson

Alissa completed her PhD at the Centre for the Study of Religion and Politics at the University of St. Andrews in 2009. She worked as the Acquisitions Editor in Religious Studies for De Gruyter and then as the Senior Editor and Head of the Publishing Department for the Dialogue of Civilizations Research Institute in Berlin. Since 2016, she has worked as a freelance editor and publishing consultant. She is a native English speaker, fluent in German, with more than 8 years of experience in the publishing industry. Alissa has acted as midwife to more than 300 publications, from monographs and edited volumes to white papers and special reports. She believes strongly in the importance of Open Science and democratizing the global research landscape.

Gijs received an MA in English literature from the University of Amsterdam, and has worked in publishing for over 15 years. For the past 5 years, he has been a freelance publishing consultant, copywriter and editor. Gijs has extensive experience in bringing writing projects – in both English and Dutch – to successful publication, ranging from academic papers, journals and monographs to literary fiction and various forms of non-fiction. Gijs is also the founder of November Editions, an independent imprint devoted to publishing German Expressionist literature in English translation.
